One can argue that organizations are not even created to manage assets or mitigate risks, they are created for a single purpose; that is to generate value. And more specifically, to generate maximum value and to sustain it. Making this distinction and not confusing the means (managing assets and risks) for the end (creating and sustaining maximum value) is critical to governance best practice.
